Dennis W Pokorny

April 30, 1948 — February 1, 2016

Dennis was born on April 30, 1948 in Taylor, Texas, the son of Joe R. and Viola Palla Pokorny. Dennis graduated from Thrall High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitter’s Union Local 286 of Austin. He loved his work and traveled to Boston, Alaska, Albuquerque and Las Vegas with his job.

Dennis passed away into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on February 1, 2016 at the age of 67. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Theresa Hyzak Pokorny. He is also survived by his sisters Gail Johle of Taylor and Karen Miller and husband Ken of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, tending to his cattle with his friendly pal, Scruffy the Dog, telling jokes and visiting with friends at Moe’s was a favorite past time.

The family would like to thank the staff at Will-O-Bell and SPJST Nursing facilities for all the loving care over the past few months. And also the doctors and nurses at Baylor Scott & White Hospital and hospice in Round Rock, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s School or Taylor Brethren Church.

Honoring Dennis as pallbearers will be Randy Hyzak, Daryl Stefek, Darrin Svehlak, Danny Stefek, Jr., Mike Hyzak and Trey Johle. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Pokorny, Mike Daffin, August Svehlak, III, Ronnie Mundkowsky, Anton Pokorny, Edward Betak, Robert Kaderka, Jerry Roznovak, Glenn Naivar, Charlie Mikulencak, Dan Krenek, and Fellow Members of Local # 286.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 408 Washburn St. in Taylor, Texas with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M.

Celebration of Life Mass will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 5, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery
