Irene Maggie Mae Werchan

Irene Maggie Mae Krueger was born April the 23rd 1921 to Emma and Frank Krueger. She grew up on her family farm in Thrall, Texas and Graduated from Thrall High School in 1938. On April the 20th 1940 she married Raymond William Werchan of Taylor, Texas. While building a career as a public accountant she raised two children Ralph Louis and Wanda Rae. She had a love for her farm in Weir where she devoted much time to being in the garden and taking care of her chickens. Her grandsons have fond memories of living close by and being able to help her pick up pecans and gather the eggs from the chicken cope, but if she ever took her eyes off of them they were climbing up the windmill or getting muddy in the corn field. All of her great grandchildren have been blessed with her presence and strong love for her family, and a great example of a strong Christian woman. Her door was always open and willing to take the time to sit down and talk while enjoying her wonderful cakes and cookies.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond of 29 years, daughter Wanda Smith, her parents, and three sisters.

She is survived by her son Ralph Werchan and wife Linda, their sons Butch and Bill Werchan, three other grandsons Chuck, Chad, and Craig Smith, ten great grandchildren (Jacob, Ethan, Rylee, Megan, Mason, Aaron, Katie, Cole, Taryn, Tyler), and one great great grandson (Eli Werchan).

The Visitation will be on Tuesday February 2nd at the Providence Funeral home in Taylor, Texas from 6pm-8pm.

The Funeral Services will be held at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas on Wednesday February 3rd at 2pm with burial at Taylor City Cemetery.

The Palbearers will be Jacob Werchan, Ethan Werchan, Mason Werchan, Aaron Werchan, Cole Smith, and Tyler Smith.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Park Place Nursing Home, and Harbor Hospice for all the love and care that she received.
