Marjorie Jane Collins

September 16, 1924 — December 19, 2015

Marjorie Jane (Sellman) Collins, 91, of Taylor passed away at The Cottages at Chandler Creek in Round Rock, in the early morning hours of December 19, 2015, two days before her 68th anniversary.

Margie was born on September 16, 1924 in Parsons, Kansas. She was the youngest of five children born to Elsie and Michael Sellman. She married William C. (Bill) Collins in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 21, 1947. They were blessed with three children. Margie and Bill owned their own real estate firm in Houston, retired in 1975, moved to Brenham Texas and relocated and restored a Texas Victorian home. They spent the next 40 years traveling the world including taking the Trans-Siberian Express from London to Hong Kong, driving around Africa in a rental car for two months, relaxing in Bali, and exploring fjords by boat in both Norway and Chile. They finally settled in Taylor, Texas where they enjoyed the familiarity of running into friends and neighbors in the grocery store aisles. Near the end of her life, suffering from Lewy Body dementia and aftereffects of a broken hip, she moved to The Cottages where she charmed the staff with her friendliness and sweet disposition.

Margie is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Bill, her daughter Charlotte Herron of Taylor, sons Scott Collins of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Jim Collins and wife Maxine of Helena, Montana. Also surviving are seven grandsons and twelve great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Gene and Vincent, and two sisters, Elaine and Dorothy.

At Margie’s request there will be no services. Interment of her ashes will be at a later date in the family plot in Parsons, Kansas.
