Elton "Buck" William Spinn

March 31, 1927 — September 24, 2015

Elton, better known as “Buck” William Spinn was born on March 31, 1927 and died on September 24, 2015 at the age of 88. Buck was the 3rd child born to Elsie Weige & Charlie Spinn in Bartlett, TX. His childhood days were spent in Bartlett in a farm & ranch family, and then re-located to Friendship.

Buck served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed for several years in Alaska. After returning to Central Texas he assisted on the family farm and later went to work for Williamson County Road Department for 22 years retiring in 1989.

After returning from the Army he met Elsie Kurecka Gorubec, after a lengthy courtship, they were married on March 27, 1967 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill and resided in Granger. Buck performed his civic duty by serving 2 terms on the Granger City Council. Upon his retirement in 1989 he enjoyed working in his workshop, welding, trying his hand at homemade wine and sitting by a smoking bar-b-que pit drinking his “Pivo”. Buck was very proud of his German heritage and enjoyed listening to polka music. After Elsie preceded him in death in December 1995, he continued their tradition of growing plants and donating them to the Granger & Taylor church auctions. Last but not least was the infamous “pickle recipe”, upon arrival at a family gathering with a quart in hand, the jar would be devoured in a matter of minutes!

Buck was also preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Elroy ‘Pete’ Spinn, Charles ‘Lightening’ Spinn Jr, sisters, Darlene Liska, Bertha Noak and two son-in-law’s Harley Davidson and Charles ‘Tuffy’ Parker.

Buck is survived by sisters, Charlyne (Wilford) Schroeder of Austin, Billye (Delton) Baumbach of Mineral Wells, Nell (Ben) Zrubek of Austin and sister in law Vickie Spinn of Hutto.

He is also survived by two step daughters, Gladys Parker of Pflugerville and Shirley Davidson of Waco.
