Kermit Ruben Weiss entered into eternal life on September 8, 2015. He was born to Ewald and Augusta Weiss on August 28, 1922, in Cele, Texas, the sixth of 11 children.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Emma Gene; children: Debbie, James "Bubba", Mike (& Jeanie), and Craig (& Darla); grandchildren: Amanda, Kyle (& Chasity), Marissa Broadhurst (& BJ), Matthew, Kendall, and Kailey; great-grandchildren Destin and Raylee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kermit was a good man--hardworking, kind, generous, and true to his word. In WWII, he served on the USS American Legion APA 17 and after a two-year stint, returned home. He worked in the family cotton gin business and farmed land outside Manor. Later he worked as a welding inspector with the Highway Department, still farming on weekends. His great loves in life included family and farming, and not always in that order.
Although quiet by nature, Kermit was quite funny with wisdom hidden in witty remarks. One of his sayings was, "if you can't listen, you gotta feel," which has more than one implication if one thinks about it. And though he had simple tastes, he, by no means, was simple minded. Kermit was a true original and will be dearly missed.
The family expresses deep gratitude to all who cared for Kermit, especially doctors Spencer Chen, Matthew Rogers, William Rawlinson, David Pohl, Vinit Varu, Nurse Debbie Johnson, Caregiver Robyn Harris, and the medical staff of Seton, St. David's, and Cedar Park hospitals.
