Doris Mildred Leschber Wernecke, 91 of Thrall passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 one day before her 92nd birthday. Doris was born September 5, 1923 in the Hare Community to Otto and Dora Pasemann Leschber.
On January 2, 1943 she was united in marriage to John Paul Wernecke at Zion Lutheran Church in Sandoval.
Doris was a longtime employee of American Cleaners and past member & officer of the Thrall VFD Ladies Auxiliary, a longtime member of St. John Lutheran church in Thrall. She was also a Sunday School teacher at Zion Lutheran.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing for family and friends and making her famous noodles and pear pies.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, John of 65 years, 5 months, and 2 days, and infant daughter, Glenda Joan Wernecke; sister, Alice Kerlin and brother, Herman P. Leschber.
Survivors include daughters, Joy Moehnke and husband Doug and Judy Phillips and husband James; grandsons, Jason Moehnke, Clint Chapman and wife Kristen, Chad Chapman, Jeremy Moehnke, and Cole Chapman and wife Autumn; great-granddaughters; Sophie Chapman and Elise Chapman; sister, Loraine Roeske,; step-grandchildren, Rodney Phillips, Dawn Puryear and husband Cole; step-great-grandchildren, Ally, Madison and Samuel Puryear; nieces and nephews, Curtis Kerlin, Diana Stolle, Rodney Roeske, Sidney Roeske, and Debbie Bryant
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall, TX with burial at Taylor City Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Jason Moehnke, Clint Chapman, Chad Chapman, Jeremy Moehnke, Cole Chapman, and Rodney Phillips
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall
