Lois Gainer

Vanita (Lois) Gainer, 94, formerly of Hutto passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015, nine days before her 95th birthday.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, AUgust 13, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home.

Graveside Service will be 10:00 A.M.Friday, August 14, 2015 at Hutto Cemetery.

She was born August 20, 1920 in Wilson Valley/Little River to Mary Blakey and Leroy Kirkpatrick. She lived most of her life in Hutto and was a member of Hutto Baptist Church.

Lois married Samuel J. Gainer on September 20, 1937. Although Lois and Sam never had children of their own, they helped to raise many of their nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children in Hutto.

Lois worked for many years at the Austin State Hospital. After retirement she held many jobs at church and was a prayer warrior. She wrote for the Hutto News and the Taylor Daily Press. She also authored two books.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Martha Faye, Katherine and Jean.

She is survived by one sister, Eula Mae and numerous nieces and nephews.
