Gene P. Doherty

Gene P. Doherty, 82, of Taylor, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at her home. She was born on May 11, 1933 in Aspermont, Texas to Alice Rowena and Johnnie Phelps.

Gene was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan and spent many days watching games with her husband Gerald and she loved gardening. She worked as a bartender for well over 20 years. Gene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Gene is survived by her children Gerald W. Doherty, Elaine Moore and husband Ronnie, Donna Slade and husband Jay, Sandra Barnes and husband Jeff, and Carolyn (Bebe) Ziglar. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christy Evans and husband Brad, Kevin Bartz, Joshua Butcher, Shane Butcher, Chelsea Miller and Jamie Hidalgo and great-grandchildren Colton Campbell, Henley Evans and Caysen Evans.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Doherty, her parents, her 12 siblings, and daughter-in-law Nang Doherty.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 29, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, TX.
