Erlene Manhart

July 13, 1924 — May 20, 2015

Erlene Lillie Ida Krieg Manhart of Hutto, Texas, former long time resident of South Austin, Texas, went home to be with the Lord May 20, 2015 at the young age of 90, surrounded by family. Erlene graduated from Taylor High School in 1942 and shortly thereafter moved to San Antonio, Texas. She was the head of the Officer’s Payroll Department at Lackland Air Force Base where she met her late husband, Myron A. Manhart. Erlene later went on to work for Texas Employment Commission were she retired in December 1984 after 30 years with the department. Erlene was an active member of her church, St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas; where she was a member since 1947. She served as an Alter Guild, Miriam Circle, Mother’s Club, Sunday School Teacher, Usher and Greeter, Women of the Church, Evangelism Committee, Birthday Caller and Delivered Flowers. During her retirement years Erlene enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers as well as sewing and quilting. Erlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor.

Erlene was preceded in death by her loving husband Myron A. Manhart, parents Alfred and Mary Krieg and brothers Elmer G. Krieg, Monroe “Lefty” Krieg and Rueben H. Krieg and grandson David A. Lovin. Erlene’s legacy will live on, as she is survived by daughter Karen M. Blansfield and husband Ernest of Boerne, Texas along with her two sons Michael R. Manhart of Hutto, Texas and David A. Manhart and wife Carol of Hutto, Texas. Grandsons: Ernest J. Blansfied III, wife Jacquelyn; Mathew M. Manhart; Nathan A. Manhart, wife Sarah; Zachary S. Manhart; Scott Flaherty, wife Shari and Cory Flaherty. Granddaughters: Ashlie D. Manhart and Leah N. Seymour and husband Steven. Great Grandsons: Joshua Riley, Kaleb Aaron, David Allen Jr. and Jonathan William. Great Granddaughters: Katherine Joy, McKayla Faith, Erin Grace, Hallie Jean and Carissa Elizabeth. Erlene also left behind many nieces, nephews, relative and friends.

Visitation will be held May 26, 2015 from 6-8pm at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas. Services will be held May 27, 2015 at 11am in the Chapel at Providence Funeral Home, burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor, Texas.
