Evelyn Wagner

Evelyn Z. Wagner, age 88, passed away on May 11, 2015. She was born on September 24, 1926 in Taylor, Texas to Vera and John K. Zak. She attended the University of Texas at Austin in the 1950’s pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics. At UT, Evelyn was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and active in the Glee Club. During that time she married and then moved to Corpus Christi in 1957. She adopted two daughters, Lynae Wagner In 1966 and Evette Wagner Chalmers in 1970. Evelyn was a devoted mother that took every opportunity to help her daughters learn, grow, and excel. Because Evelyn enjoyed working with children, she spent her time as a Sunday school teacher at Parkway Presbyterian Church, a Camp Fire Girls group leader, she was on the PTA board at Meadowbrook Elementary School, Cullen Junior High School, and Richard King High School, and assisted with many school and after school functions. Evelyn was determined to complete her education and returned to Del Mar College where she graduated with an Associate in Arts degree on May 7, 1976. Evelyn enjoyed many hobbies such as music, art, sewing, cooking, and she was a fantastic painter. Evelyn was also active in Senior Friends, church, enjoyed traveling within the United States and internationally, spending time with her friends at Trinity Towers, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.



She is survived by her daughters, Lynae Wagner and Evette Chalmers, her son-in-law, Tim Chalmers, and her grandchildren Ben Paul Trevino, Jonathon Nelson, Elizabeth and Andrew Chalmers.



Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Funeral Service to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, at Taylor Brethren Church. Interment to follow at Taylor City Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.
