David "Big Ted" Sladek

David M. “Big Ted” Sladek, 65, of Temple passed away Friday, April 24, 2015.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Providence Funeral home, Taylor, TX.

Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.

David was born October 3, 1949 in Taylor, TX., to Eugene and Inez (Priesmeyer) Sladek. He graduated from Thrall High School where he participated in all sports.
During his high school years, having grown up on a farm he ran a hay hauling business.

After high school he attended The University of Texas at Arlington and SouthWest Texas State in San Marcos. While living in San Marcos he operated “Big Ted’s” Lawn Service for over 30 years until health issues caused him to medically retire in 2008.

Ted was a member of Redwood Baptist Church in San Marcos. He also was a member of the San Marcos Lion’s Club and an avid supporter of the charity Childrens International for over 20 years. In 2012, David moved from San Marcos to Temple.

David enjoyed playing dominoes, going out to dinner, and watching movies.

David always said his purpose in life was to make people smile. All who knew him could say, “Job Well Done”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Albert Sladek, and grandparents, Albert and Sophie Sladek and Arthur and Ida Priesmeyer.

David is survived by his mother, Inez Sladek, and a sister, Jean Sladek-Stephens, and her husband Steven Aaron.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jansen, Logan Brinkmeyer, Gary Zamorsky, Ronald Hejl, Gerald Niemtschk, and Richard Hipsher.
