Elizabeth Matl was born May 23, 1924 at what is now known as Zabcikville, east of Temple, TX. She passed away March 5, 2015.
Elizabeth’s birth parents were Antone and Marie Brnovak. She was adopted by Emil and Fannie Janak on September 23, 1925. She is preceded in death by both her birth and adopted parents, husband Felix Matl, sister Angeline Vitek, brothers Antone Brnovak, Jr., Frank Brnovak, Johnny Janak and Edwin Janak. She is survived by her children Larry Matl, John Harper and Elaine Campbell and husband Paul, 3 grandchildren Tylette Grady, Larry (Butch) Matl and Tammye McConathy, 4 great grandchildren Chance and Jordyn Grady and Tyler and Anna Matl and numerous nieces and nephews.
She married Felix Matl June 25, 1941 at the Georgetown Courthouse. They remarried December 5, 1942 at Sts. Cycril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger.
Through all the years, her joy was music. She would sit for hours and hours copying and writing her music. She played the accordion and harmonica. She enjoyed playing for people who would visit. She also had a guitar, violin, viola, saxophone and clarinet that she enjoyed playing.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers and the staff at Granger Villa, Dr. Diane Stone and the Scott & White nursing staff.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M, Sunday, March 8, 2105 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 9, 2015 at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
