Petra S Reyes

Petra Segovia Reyes, 90, of Taylor passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015.

She was born in Mission, Texas, on April 19, 1924, to the late Blas and Leonadra Segovia. She was married to the late Antonio Reyes Sr. for over 50 years.

Petra spent her life as a homemaker and also lovingly cared for her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She made each grandchild feel special. She enjoyed cooking and feeding family members, never letting an empty stomach leave her home.

Petra is survived by a sister, Victoria Flores, of Pharr; 7 children; Avelino Reyes, of Austin; Mary Alice Reyes, of Taylor; Emily Salazar (Raymond), of Taylor; Antonio Reyes Jr. (Sylvia), of Hutto; Aurora Holman (Randy), of Burnet; Sophie Gutierrez (Ruben), of Taylor; Martin Reyes (Tracie), of California; daughter in law Berta Reyes, of Brenham. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Reyes Sr., sons, Santos, Johnny, Lupe. Also preceded in death by brothers Pedro, Jesus, sister Santos, Lazara, granddaughter Stacy Gutierrez and grandson Ramon Salazar Jr.

A rosary will be held at Providence Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The burial will immediately follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.
