Bunnie Louise Brooks-Bullion passed away on February 13, 2015 in Taylor, Texas. She was born on November 18, 1933 in Smithville, Texas and was the daughter of Lottie Pieper and William E. Bunn. She is now rejoicing and praising the Lord in his presence for his amazing grace.
Bunnie lived in Smithville until she was 8-1/2 years old. In the summer of 1942, the family returned to her mother’s birth place, Lockhart, Texas. It was the beginning of World War II.
In the fall of 1950, Bunnie made her profession of faith in Christ at First Baptist Church. Baptism was several weeks later. Bunnie, age 17, committed her life to Christ at the 1950 New Years Eve program at church. That commitment remained until her passing.
She was married to Jim Ross Brooks on June 5, 1953. Their marriage of 38 years ended on July 16, 1991, when Jim passed away. Two sons blessed this marriage- David Ross Brooks and William Neal Brooks.
Bunnie was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Martin Wells Chapter since 1985. She documented and then wrote a book on the history of the German Texan ancestors’ lives, they having come to Texas from Germany between 1835 and 1846. The book, entitled “Zur Erinerung”, meaning “In Remembrance” was taken from the back of one of her Great Grandfather Anton Pieper’s Certificate of being Comal County Commissioner, written there after his passing by his wife, Johanna Pieper. The historical writing was in their Honor.
On June 6 1996, Bunnie was married to Thomas Monroe Bullion Jr. (Tom) at First Baptist Church, Taylor, Texas. It was a happy marriage. Tom passed away September 25, 2005.
She is survived by her sons, David Ross Brooks and William Neal Brooks, their wives Sheryl Sellers Brooks and Lynda Williams Brooks; four grandchildren, Myra Vanessa Brooks, Katelyn Brooks-Eubank and husband Brandon, Cameron Brooks-Sanford and husband John David Sanford, and William Neal Brooks II and wife Kailey Brooks; Great Grandsons Ayden Brooks, Michael James and Conor Caleb Eubank and Great Granddaughter McKenna Brooks.
