Edward Gustav Haverland

Edward Gustav Haverland 86, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Scott and White Hospital in Round Rock. Edward (Big Boy) to those who knew him was born on July 31, 1928 to Dick and Mary (Zeplin) Haverland on a small farm near Taylor.

On June 22, 1952 he married Evelyn (Girlie) Oehrlein. He was employed at ALCOA in Rockdale for 38 years before his retirement. He was known as “Good Buddy” amongst his co-workers. He was an active member of Yegua Creek Free Evangelical Church in Type. He enjoyed being an adult leader for the Coupland 4-H Club.

Edward is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; 3 children Janice (Harry) Schroeder, Randy (Carolyn) Haverland, Tim (Cheryl) Haverland; 7 grandchildren Stanci (Steven) Nira, Taryn Schroeder, Brandon (Britani Hinton) Haverland, Ryan Haverland, Clint Haverland, Blake Haverland, Sarah Haverland and 1 great-grandson Ethan Nira. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be Thursday January 22, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral service will be held 10:00 am Friday, January 23, 2015 at Yegua Creek Free Evangelical Church in Type with burial in church cemetery.

Pallbearers are grandsons – Brandon Haverland, Clint Haverland, Ryan Haverland, Blake Haverland, Steven Nira and nephew Martin Werchan.

Memorials may be made to Yegua Creek Free Evangelical Church.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those that visited and cared for Edward.
