Dorothy Lee Zycha

November 7, 1932 — January 17, 2015

Dorothy Lee Zycha, 82 of Taylor, went to be her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 17, 2015.

Dorothy was born on November 7, 1932 to Joe and Emilie Prcin of the Noack Community. She was one of eight children. She loved her brothers August, Victor and Daniel, and sisters Lydia, Evelyn, Gardinia and Sybil. On August 26, 1950 she married the love of life Johnnie Zycha.

She enjoyed the next 64 years being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed the friends, family and relationships she gained while selling Avon for many years in the Taylor community. One of Dorothy’s proudest moments was the year that she was awarded with the Golden Key Award from the president of Avon. She loved fishing, taking trips to the coast. She also enjoyed vacationing outdoors at the lakes with her family.

These were special times since that was truly the only time she didn’t cook. She was also a Dallas Cowboy Fan. One of her best memories was meeting Drew Pearson at J. C. Penny’s and getting signed photos for her son and an autographed felt cowboy hat for her husband.

She was also an active member in the Taylor Brethren Church Christian Sisters where she recruited her daughter in-law to be there to serve families in their time of loss. Her pride and joy was her grandson Lonnie Jr. She would sit for hours reading and telling him stories. She would help him with his school work and be there when he needed her. She also taught him a lot about cooking, life and to follow his heart.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Emilie Prcin, brothers August Prcin, Victor Prcin, Daniel Prcin and sisters Lydia Fuessel and Gardinia Konarek.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Johnnie Zycha, her son Lonnie D. Zycha Sr. and his wife Connie and her grandson Lonnie Dean Zycha Jr. and sisters Evelyn Leshikar and Sybil Schrader. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that meant the world to her.
