On January 12, 2015 Arlene Doris Schmidt Kruse, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother went to be with her Heavenly Father.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Providence Funeral Home from 6:00PM – 8:00PM.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2015 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
Arlene was born April 1, 1931 to Fritz and Matilda (Tesmer) Schmidt at their farm home location at Rice’s crossing. On November 06, 1955 she married Paul Kruse Jr. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arlene helped stock and open Taylor’s original Wal-Mart in Taylor back in 1979. Upon her retirement from Wal-Mart, she spent her time volunteering, she served on the Ladies Auxiliary at John’s Community Hospital, and she volunteered at several Taylor Schools working with the H.O.S.T.S and M.A.P.S. programs and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Store. She loved family gathering to celebrate birthdays and holidays and listening to her polka music on Sunday afternoon.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her children Mark (Remona) Kruse of Round Rock, Pamela (Michael) David, Cynthia (Joe) Tomei all of Taylor, Brian (Shannon) Kruse of Pflugerville. Grandchildren, Brandi (Chris) Forrest of Austin, Lesley (Robert) Burrow of Taylor, Ryan (Alexandra) Tomei of Colorado Springs, CO, Keith ( Jessica) Kruse of Wichita, KS, Erin Tomei of Austin, Chad David of Taylor, Catherine and Jacqueline Kruse of Pflugerville. Great-grandchildren, Payton Burrow of Taylor, Kenna and Riley Tomei of Colorado Springs, CO , Tyler Arlene-Marie Kruse of Wichita, KS, with another great-grand baby due in July. Brother, Don J (Lois) Schmidt and special niece Carrie (Michael) Townsend all of Coupland. Many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Staff at the San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center, Resolutions Hospice and Dr. Franklin Chang.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Radio Fund.
