On December 24, 2014 Doris Maxine (Gay, Whatley, Jordan) Bird departed this place and joined Our Lord and Savior Jesus in Heaven. Maxine left this place peacefully with her family at her side, following a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband Graham Bird, of Taylor; her Daughter Glenda, son-in-law Tim Stence of Taylor; her son David Gay and Daughter-in-law Kim of Taylor; Granddaughters Amanda Cage and Son Seth of Taylor; Heather and husband Carlos Watson, sons Cayden and Jack of Thrall; Halley and husband Marcus Foulds and son Dane from Missouri City; and one Grandson Dawson Gay of Austin; one sister Hilda and husband Jerry Thorne of Pasadena; one brother Harold and wife Sandy Terry of Houston; sisters-in-laws Barbara Blocker and Gene Spears of Houston area; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
Mom was an active member of her church, and avid bowler in her time, an enthusiastic domino and other games player.
She was most remembered as the Business Manager at Johns Clinic/Scott and White in Taylor. She was very well known around the area by her great smiles and her contagious laughter. Mom had a multitude of friends and never met a stranger. She loved many and was loved by many.
There will be a Visitation with family, Sunday afternoon December 28th from 2-4pm at the Memorial Baptist Church on Lake Dr. in Taylor.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 29th at 10:30 am at the Memorial Baptist Church, Lake Dr. with Brother Dudley Marx officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers are Erwin Meiske, Andy Blaschke, Mike Zycha, Marty Martinez, Norman Fuessel and Glen Redmon.
