R.E. (Sixty) Unnasch, Jr., 92, passed away in Taylor on September 19, 2014. R.E. was born March 11, 1922 in the community of Detmold, TX to Rudolph E. Zenkner Unnasch and Ella Annie Noack. He attended school in Detmold community and proudly served the United States in the U.S. Army during World War II.
After leaving the service, Sixty met and later married Ruby Schwab Unnasch on August 28, 1949 in Thorndale, TX.
Sixty’s time in the Army, serving as a Glider Mechanic and later as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic began his long career in automobile and later refrigeration repair. Sixty worked as an auto mechanic at Rodenbeck Auto Supply and retired after 38 years of loyal service. After retiring, he continued working in the community as an automobile and refrigeration repair serviceman for many years.
Sixty had a long time passion for watching car racing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Sixty and Ruby recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with their immediate family. It was a very joyous occasion that will live on in their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s memories.
Sixty was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Thorndale.
Sixty is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wilbert, Leroy, Verdis and Glandon Unnasch, sisters Irene E. Unnasch Marek and Laverne Unnasch Mullin. Sixty is survived by his wife, Ruby Schwab Unnasch of Thorndale and sons Glenn (Loretta) Unnasch of Hutto and Bobby (Pam) Unnasch of Austin. He has four grandchildren Aaron (Jennifer) Unnasch, Adam (Laura) Unnasch, Amanda (Luke) Bess and Kyle Unnasch. Also survived by six great-grandchildren Caden, Rylan, Boston Unnasch, Caroline Unnasch and Summer and Logen Bess.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Providence Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 22, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Thorndale. Burial to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Scott and White Taylor Hospital for their loving care during his last days.
