Edward James Pausewang, 78, of Taylor died peacefully on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family. Edward was born on August 24, 1935, to Joe & Adella Pausewang of Granger. He married the love of his life, MaryAnn Schwertner Pausewang, on November 19, 1955.
He is survived by their five children: Michael (Shirley), Diane (Stephen), Allan, Mark, and Joseph (Sheila) and brother, Robert Pausewang (Joy). There are also seven grandchildren: Jason and Jamie Pausewang, William Hogan and Michelle Hogan - Dominguez, Lacey Lundgren, and Shelby and Austin Pausewang as well as three great-grandchildren: Lane and Aspen Lundgren and Andres Dominguez - Hogan.
Edward was a devoted husband and father, providing for his family as a woodworker for Griggs Manufacturing, American Desk, and Tex-Wood Industries. He spent most of his life in Granger where he supported his sons and daughter throughout their young lives. He was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church until 1993 when he and Mary Ann moved to Taylor. There they joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Edward was also a member of the Granger Volunteer Fire Department and Granger/Taylor Knights of Columbus. His friends and family knew him as a man who loved to dance, play a little domino and poker and gather from time to time to share a good meal and drink a cold beer.
Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, parents, Joe and Adella and brother, Albert Pausewang.
Visitation & Rosary will be held on Friday, 7/25, at 7 pm at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor. The funeral Mass will be 10 am on Saturday, 7/26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church followed by interment at Granger City Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Granger SPJST Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
