Alvin Joe Klima, 87, of Sun City, Georgetown, formerly of Taylor, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2014 in Georgetown. He was welcomed into heaven not only by our Lord and Savior, but by his wife, Evelyn and son, Alvin James. Alvin Joe was born on February 12, 1927 in Taylor to Rudolph and Mary (Beck) Klima. He was married to his beloved wife, Evelyn Marek Klima formerly of Granger for over 63 years at the time of her death on June 22, 2011. They were married on March 30, 1948. To this sacred union they were blessed with two extremely devoted children; a son Alvin James and a daughter Danna Katrine. Alvin Joe served in the United States Army for three years including time spent overseas in Hiroshima prior to the marriage.
Alvin Joe retired from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) having been a state employee for over 33 years at the time of his retirement. After he retired he loved working on his farm and pasture raising cattle with his loving son, Alvin James. At the age of 82 years, Alvin Joe was still seen riding his favorite John Deere Tractor with his faithful four legged pal, Bubba.
Beside the death of his precious wife, Evelyn, Alvin Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rudolph and sister, Sylvia Malke. Alvin Joe suffered a tremendous loss when Alvin James suddenly passed away on December 9, 2002.
He is survived by his caring daughter, Danna Klima Kemble, his only grandson, Robbie Kemble and wife, Huyen, all of Georgetown, his loving granddaughters Christie of Granbury and Jamie and husband Travis of Chickasha, Oklahoma. In addition, he is survived by his former daughter-in-law, Gena of Wheatherford with whom he had a close relationship. Left behind to also deeply mourn Alvin Joe beside his family are his two dogs, Big Puppy and Little Puppy.
Visitation will be held at the Providence Funeral Home in Taylor on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The rosary will coincide at 7:00 p.m. A private mass will be celebrated by the immediate family at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church where Alvin Joe was a devoted member with burial following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Alvin was known as “daddy” and “grandpa” to his loving family and will be deeply missed by them. He was so much more than just a father or grandfather.
