Edmond Shelton Tate Jr.
Edmond S. Tate Jr., 81, of Taylor passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15
th
surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband and caring father to his wife and children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren where his pride and joy. Edmond was born August 17, 1932 to Anna and Edmond Tate Sr. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1949 and served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 as an Electricians First Mate. On February 11, 1956, he married Loretta Czimskey and they shared 58 wonderful years. He retired as the District 14 Maintenance Supervisor from the Texas Highway Department (TXDOT) after 33 years and worked for the Taylor Independent School District for 6 years.
He was a member of American Legion, Post 39, Taylor Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus, Taylor SPJST Lodge #29. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, volunteering to assist as needed.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife Loretta, sister Patricia Pilchiek and husband Raymond, daughter Susan Pick and husband Bobby, son Casey Tate and wife Dana, daughter Jan Filla and husband Danny, son Patrick Tate and wife Hannah. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18
th
from 6 – 8 pm at Providence Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm. The Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 19
th
at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home and burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Taylor.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Rathke, Daniel Bennight, Jacob Shalley, Keith Langley, Taylor Torres, Robert Jarosek and Harrison Tate as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School or Taylor Volunteer Fire Department.
