Doris June Oliver Johnson of Thrall, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the age of 89. She was born on September 13, 1924 in Hare, Texas and was the daughter of the late Gene and Zelda Oliver.

Doris was married to the late Eric W. Johnson on April 22, 1943 and was a long time resident of Thrall where she worked for the U.S. Postal Service as the Postmaster for almost 30 years. She retired at the age of 73. She loved spending time with family, watching sporting events, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She was a big Aggie fan and loved going to Aggie football and basketball games. She was a very caring and loving Mammaw and was delighted to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doris was a beloved member of the community and a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric W. Johnson; parents, Gene and Zelda Oliver; sisters, Helen Reaves of Austin and Billye Laxson of San Antonio. She is survived by her son, Larry Johnson and wife Jean of Thrall; daughter, Linda Abshire and husband Doug of College Station; and grandchildren Lance Johnson; Kristi and Les Pickett; Wendy and Matt Adams; and Marcy and David Moorhead. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Josh and Kaitlyn Johnson; Riley Pickett; Abby, Reese and Mitchell Adams; and Lauren and Kyle Moorhead.

The Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church, 409 S. Main St. Thrall, TX 76578. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the caregivers at the Taylor SPJST Rest Home for taking special care of our Mammaw. We will miss and love you always and your legacy and loving dedication to our family will forever be remembered.
