Frank J. Mikulencak, Jr. died, Monday, January 6, 2014 in Granger, TX at the age of 91.
He was born in Nada, Tx in 1922 and was preceded in death by his parents, F.J. and Frances Kofron Mikulencak of Granger, and brothers Albert Mikulencak of Elgin and Bernard Mikulencak of Granger and his daughters Catherine Louise and Lucy Frank.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Michalek Mikulencak, his daughter Diana Mikulencak Bosshard and husband Steve and grandsons, John and James Bosshard of Gatesville, TX. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Dr. Heather Hamilton of Round Rock and son, Dr. David J. Mikulencak and his wife Pat of Elgin, TX and grandson, Dr. David M. Mikulencak and wife Megan of Fort Worth, TX and great-grandaughters, Campbell and Kate Mikulencak, and granddaughters Dr. Kallina Mikulencak of Katy, TX and Kristina Mikulencak of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Ann Mikulencak of Taylor, Agnes Stojanik of Georgetown, Evelyn Demirsu of Lafayette, LA, and brother-in-law, Johnny Michalek of Granger and many nephews and nieces.
Frank graduated from Granger High School and entered the US Navy. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations in the Pacific areas of the Philippine Islands and China. He also served in Panama and other U.S. bases in the Pacific. His rank when he was discharged was Yeoman First Class.
After returning from the Navy, he attended the University of Texas in Austin and married Georgia Michalek and had four children. He was active in his community and owned and operated Mikulencak’s Variety and Dry Goods Store in Granger and Bartlett, TX. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with his family.
After retirement, he enjoyed bowling and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, and picking pecans. He spend his last three and one-half years as a resident of Granger Villa Nursing Home. He was a generous and gentle man who will be dearly miss by his friends and family.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Granger, TX. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.
Celebration of Life Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
