Sallie Cervenka

Sallie Mae (Reisner) Cervenka, 90, of Granger, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 in a Taylor Nursing Home.

Sallie was born on January 15, 1923 in Lockhart, TX to Andrew and Elizabeth Reisner. She grew up in the Friendship area and went to Friendship School. She was a lifelong member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, KJZT #18 and Catholic Life. She has been residing at SPJST Nursing Home in Taylor for the last 9 years.

On June 11, 1946, she married Louis F. Cervenka. For 16 years she and Louis co-owned and operated the Coffee Shop in Granger. Later she worked at Mikulencak’s dry goods store in Granger, then at Perry Brothers and TG&Y in Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Reisner, her husband Louis F. Cervenka, one grandson Robert Cervenka, sister Albina Pustejovsky, and brothers Willie, Martin, Florin, Otis, Stanley and Louis.

Survivors include her son Richard Cervenka and wife Helen of Granger; daughter Karen Mayer and husband Gilbert of Taylor; five grandchildren, Jennifer Fudge and husband Barney, Christie Black and husband Kirk, Alison Anderson and husband Ryan, Laurie Mayer and Greg Rodriguez, Andrew Mayer and Leah Richardson. Nine great-grandchildren, Damian David, Kylar, Ashlyn and Shaylie Black, Riley and Brodie Fudge, Noah and Elias Rodriguez and Olivia Anderson.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. with the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Providence Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with the Rev. Stephen Nesrsta officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Granger.

Pallbearers will be Barney Fudge, Kirk Black, Ryan Anderson, Andrew Mayer, Kenneth Cervenka and James Cervenka.
