Dan Cervenka, of Norman’s Crossing, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Nov. 12, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
Dan was born in Taylor on October 27, 1947 to Dan G. and Helen (Leshikar) Cervenka.
Dan was a former member and officer of the East Williamson County Emergency Care Team (emergency medical first responder services), a member of the State Bar of Texas, Hutto Municipal Court Judge for 10 years before serving 13+ years as the Milam County Assistant County and District Attorney. In November 2012 he was admitted and qualified to practice as an attorney in the United States District Courts, Western District Court of Texas. He had a competitive nature and enjoyed a good game of tennis, golf, dominoes or killer croquet. He enjoyed snow skiing, fishing and hanging out at the beach. His girls were the best thing that ever happened to him.
Dan had his mother's best qualities, an incisive intellect, and a heart that was large but never overtly sentimental. Dan had his father's qualities in him too, a Western manliness of few words and substantial commitment to consistency in word and deed; an easy physicality that was never self-indulgent; a doer.
Dan is survived by his wife Cindy Cervenka; children, Hannah Cervenka, and Abigail Cervenka; Parents -in-law, Charles and Pat Gantt; sisters and brothers-in-law; Craig and Teresa Gold, and Tony and Debbie Gantt; nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn Gold, Hayley and Luke Stanton, Jack and Dan Gantt; as well as numerous cousins… particularly Bubba Steve.
Dan battled this cancer for almost four years and although he was not Superman, he will always be our super-hero. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the education (TUTMA) account for his children, Hannah and Abigail (Abby) Cervenka, at A+ Federal Credit Union, Hutto Branch.
Arrangements under the direction of Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, (512) 352-5909.
