Herman Ej Weise, Jr.

January 30, 1925 — November 15, 2013

Herman E. J. Weise, Jr. was born on January 30, 1925 to Herman and Louise Weise. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, being confirmed by Pastor F. H. Stelzer. Herman graduated from Thorndale High School, after which he attended Duke University, Mississippi College and received his degree in Agriculture from Sam Houston State University. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Navy. He was a founding member of the Thorndale VFW. He served as a school board member for Thorndale High. He was an elder and choir member for St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years. He was manager of the Thorndale Community Lumber Company. Herman was proud of anything that was Thorndale, especially the schools, their sports and the community itself. He never met a stranger, talking to anyone who would give him an ear.

Herman is survived by his loving wife Loraine, of 66 years, a son, Gary and wife, Cindy of New Braunfels, his daughter, Renee’ of Taylor and granddaughter, Ashley of San Antonio. He is also survived by his sister, Ruby Mueller and husband, Marty of Houston, as well as many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wilbert (Uti) Weise.

Pallbearers were Billy Merkord, Rick Mueller, Ron Mueller, Paul Noyd, Harvey Roensch, nephews, and Earl Wuensche. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Barron, Edwin Falke, Wayne Farmer, Mike Richardson, Norris Schroeder and Floyd Zuehlke, Sr. and comrads of the VFW Hill Johnson Post 4009 in Thorndale, Texas.

The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Services for Herman will be Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with burial to follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery
