Maudy Valentine Evans

MAUDY VALENTINE (SANDERS, YOUNGBLOOD) EVANS, 96, of Taylor, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Scott & White Hospital, Round Rock, Texas. Valentine was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1917, in Thorndale, Texas (Milam County), Texas, to parents Macron Lucus and Frances Maud (Bownds) Sanders. She is preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, and three brothers.

Valentine was baptized at age 13 and remained a faithful member of the church of Christ throughout her life. She attended school and completed her high school degree at Watson Branch, a rural area in Milam County. She later became an LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse), receiving her training at Stromberg Hospital in Taylor, Texas. She was married on December 22, 1933, in Muleshoe, Texas to Nathan Edward Youngblood, who preceded her in going home to the Lord in 1960. In 1974 Valentine married D.N. Evans, who preceded her in going home to the Lord in 1999.

Valentine is survived by her two sons, Roger Youngblood and John Youngblood, both of Taylor, Texas, and her Sister-in-law, Winnie Sanders of Crockett, Texas, and one who was as a Sister, Normadene Carter of Beaukiss, Texas. Valentine as YaYa enjoyed the love and honor of six Grandchildren: Tiffne Hartlein and husband, Greg, of Sammamish, Washington, Adrian Youngblood, Paul Christian Youngblood, and Alexandra Youngblood of Las Vegas, Nevada, Noelle Rantakari and husband Heikki of Boston, Massachusetts, and Justin Youngblood and wife Summer of Austin, Texas. As Great-Grandmother she was blessed with the love and honor of eight Great-Grandchildren: Alexandria, Noah, Jordan, Isaac, Reagan, Naia, Cole, and Olivia. Valentine loved and was loved by so many nieces and nephews, numerous other relatives, and countless friends.

For Family and Friends Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 6 – 8 PM at the Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd, Taylor, Texas. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM at the Taylor Hwy 95 church of Christ, 2702 N. Hwy 95, Friday, September 20. Interment to follow the Service at the Taylor City Cemetery.
