Mary Ann Hanacik-Berger

Mary Ann Hanacik-Berger, 83, of Taylor died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Scott & White Hospital in Taylor. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Providence Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00 PM. Celebration of Life Mass will be 2:00 PM, Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor.

Mary Ann Martinka Hanacik-Berger was born on August 20, 1930 to John D. and Vergie (Page) Martinka at Possum Creek near Granger, TX. She married Henry John Hanacik, Jr. on October 23, 1948, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1986. This marriage was blessed with four children. Mary Ann married Weldon Berger on November 9, 1997, who preceded her in death on June 9, 2005. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She worked for TXU Electric Company and retired after 28 years of service. She was a very talented gracious lady, awesome cook and decorator. She was an artist, painting many pieces of art under the name of Tinka. She enjoyed gardening, ball room dancing, traveling, fishing and a good joke. Mary Ann was an adoring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and loved spending time with her family. Her gracious charm, sense of humor, soft voice and warm touch will be missed by her many loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry Hanacik, Jr.; daughter Cynthia “Cynda” P. Benad; granddaughter Jennifer Benad-Ghatalia; sister Pauline Beard and husband of 7 years Weldon Berger.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Krueger and husband Mark, son John Hanacik and wife Vicki of Taylor, son Kent Hanacik and wife Michelle of Plano, son-in-law Rodney Benad of Pleasanton. Sisters Lillian Martinka of Taylor, Romonna Hartman of Marble Falls. Step children Jeff Berger and wife Rudie, Roxanne Carnes and husband Tim. 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
