Mary A. Walker

Mary Kurtin Walker died peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2013. She was 92 years old. Mary was born February 25, 1921 in Granger, Texas, to Josef Kurtin and Aneska Mickalek. She graduated from Granger High School and later moved to Fort Worth. While in Fort Worth, she married Ralph C. Walker, St. Louis, Missouri, on August 27, 1946 in Granger, Texas. They started a family and had five children. Mary was a devoted Catholic and loved to travel. Following her husband’s retirement, they spent much of their time traveling all over the United States and to Europe and their favorite place was Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph and son, Johnny Justin. In addition, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Frances, Joe, Tony and his wife Dee, Margaret Hajda and Laddie Kurtin. Mary is survived by son, Jim and wife Barbara (Pflugerville), daughters, Mary Hyman (Bedford), Dorothy Jean (Bedford), and Jenny Harader and husband Max (Hurst) Grandchildren include Lisa Larson and husband Paul (Taylor), Pat Repa (Round Rock), Jason Walker (Austin), and Nick Hyman and wife Zee (Los Angeles). Great Grandchildren include Steve Larson, Taylor Repa, Christian Larson, Katy Repa, and Alice Hyman and special little girls who made Granny always smile, Morgan Larson and Demi Larson Brooks; siblings, Edith Kurtin, Agnes “Babs” Kurtin,and John Kurtin all of Granger, Frank Kurtin of Flatonia; sister-in-law, Lydia Kurtin of Granger; brother-in-law, V.J. Hajda of Taylor.

The family gives a special “Thank You” to the SPJST nurses and aides on Hall 4.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel - Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Celebration of Life Mass will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 23, 2013 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
