Ruth Buckalew

Heaven gained another angel on August 4, 2013. Ruth Cortinas Buckalew, 81, passed away peacefully.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services and Rosary will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Providence Funeral Home.

Ruth Buckalew of Granger formerly of Taylor was born July 4, 1932 to Pedro and Francisca Cortinas. She worked for the University of Texas and graciously as a caregiver for over 30 years. Ruth loved music and especially enjoyed her time mingling with friends at the Taylor Senior Citizens Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mahlon Buckalew Ret. 1st Sargent; sisters, Mary, Margaret, and Bessie; a brother, Pete, Jr.; sons, Robert Cortinas and Eddie Buckalew; granddaughter, Paige Buckalew.

Ruth is survived by her children, Rita Cortinas of Granger, Freddie Cortinas (Irene) of Round Rock, Irene Kelly (Charlie) of Granger, Sonny Buckalew (Amanda) of Granger, Diane Morales (Anthony) of Austin, and Dell Buckalew (Alicia) of Taylor; daughter-in-law, Adela Cortinas of Granger; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one on the way; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and family friends.

The family of Ruth Buckalew would like to thank Dr. Hodges at Scott & White Hospital, the staff of Scott & White Hospice, and Will-o-Bell Nursing Home for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Taylor Senior Citizens Center.
