Antonia Marie Knapek

Antonia Marie Knapek, 76, of Granger graduated to eternal life on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the SPJST Nursing Home in Taylor.
Viewing will be from 6 to 8pm with a rosary being recited at 7pm Thursday Aug 1 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of Life Mass will be at 10am Friday Aug 2 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with Rev. Fr. Stephen Nesrsta and Rev. Fr. Joseph Nisari officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger.
In lieu of flowers, Antonia requested that donations be made to Sisters of Divine Providence, 515 SW 24th St, San Antonio, TX 78207 and Texas Alliance for Life, 8000 Centre Park Dr, Suite 380, Austin, TX 78754.
Pallbearers are Raymond Knapek, Anthony Knapek, Leonard Huf, Ernest Valdez, Randall Unnasch & Bobby Polasek.
Antonia was born on Jan 14, 1937 to Henry B. and Antonia Marie (Straka) Havelka in Corn Hill, TX. On Jan 18, 1955 she married Johnny A. Knapek at Holy Trinity Church in Corn Hill. Antonia was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and spiritual director for many. She spent most of the little leisure time she had crocheting, making rosaries, embroidering, and visiting & feeding the homebound and religious. She had crocheted baby booties for Princess Diana’s boys, for John and Jackie Kennedy’s children and for most babies born in this area between 1960 and 1995. She made rosaries for many 1st Communion classes. She had embroidered paten covers and purificators some of which are used on many altars in Nigeria today. She whole-heartedly supported pro-life organizations and activities. She was very proud of her Czech heritage and enjoyed listening to Czech music. She was a lay member of the Sisters of Divine Providence, an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, a member of the SSCM Altar Society and the KJZT.
Antonia was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny A. Knapek, her infant children, Joseph Anthony Knapek and Frances Ann Knapek and her grandson Nathan Joseph Huf.
Survivors include her son Raymond Knapek of Granger; daughter, Lillie Huf and husband Leonard of Granger; son, Anthony Knapek of Davilla; daughter, Theresa Valdez and husband Ernest of Holland; daughter, Rose Unnasch and husband Randall of Thorndale and daughter, Patricia Polasek and husband Bobby of Taylor; a sister, Lillie Vanek of Taylor and a brother Lambert Havelka and wife Sue of McGregor; 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Antonia dedicated her life to doing the Lord’s will. She suffered greatly during life, yet she always accepted all difficulties with childlike innocence.
