Valeria Ann Cepak

June 23, 1937 — July 24, 2013

Valeria “Val” Dykowski Cepak 76 of Taylor, Texas went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born June 23, 1937, in Granger, Texas and grew up on her family farm. Val was proud of her Czech heritage and only spoke the Czech language until the 2nd grade. It was while attending Saint Cyril and Methodius School in Granger that she learned to speak the English language. Val was the daughter of Edward Dykowski and Frances Nemec Dykowski who preceeded her in death.

Upon graduating from Granger High School in 1955, she began working at Lone Star Gas Company in Taylor, Texas for several years. She then worked over 39 years in Austin as a legal secretary for what started out as Brown, Sparks, and Erwin Law Firm, and retired from Brown. McCarroll, L.L.P. in 2008. After retiring from the law firm, she went to work part time at Curves in Taylor, and there she enjoyed greeting the patrons early in the morning with her bubbly and contagious smile. Having worked in Austin for so many years she welcomed the opportunity to visit with the local community frequently. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, dancing, and traveling . Val’s coworkers noted that inspired others to be better. She was kind, friendly, caring, encouraging, positive, upbeat, and loved by many.

Val was preceeded in death by her parents, a brother Marvin, who died at infancy, sister Doris Dykowski Lane, and Johnny Dykowski. Val is survived by her children, Ronald Cepak and friend Sharon Cochran of Austin, Bubba and wife, Debbie of Taylor, Becky Sheppard and husband Andy of Fate, Texas, and Ronda Cepak of Taylor; Grandchildren LeShell Reeves and LaNae Cepak of Taylor, Courtland and BriAna Cepak of Georgetown, Meghan Martin Bannister and husband Patrick of Royse City, Texas, Lauren and Sarah Sheppard of Fate, Texas. She was the proud Great-grandmother of Emily and Fender Reeves of Taylor, and Saylor Bannister of Royse City, Texas. She is also survived brother, Ed Dykowski and wife Corrine of Granger, sister Joan Rister and husband Ernest of Round Rock, Texas and sister-in-law, Liz Dykowski also of Round Rock, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grandson Courtland Cepak and nephews John Allen Dykowski, Mike Dykowski, Stephen Dykowski, Gary Don Lane, Lance Lane, and Bucky Rister will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday evening 6:00-7:00 p.m.with Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 27th, 2013, at Noon at Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas, with Father Steve Nestra officiating.
