Alfred G. Severin, 88, of Houston, died Monday, July 8, 2013
A Memorial Celebration Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church, Houston. There will be visitation at the Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas on Saturday, July 20 from 5:00-6:30. The graveside service will be held at the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, Texas on Sunday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to be made to Clear Lake Presbyterian Church of Houston.

Alfred was born to Robert and Alberta Severin, January 18, 1925, in St Louis, Missouri.
As a child, he moved to Texas with his family and graduated from high school in San Antonio. While at The University of Texas, he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Junior Grade during World War II. He completed his Chemical Engineering degree at UT in 1947. After working as an engineer, he was called to the ministry and attended The Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. During his time as a Presbyterian minister, he met and married Ida Schultz, of Taylor on October 9, 1954. Together they served many churches throughout Texas and Arkansas. Following his retirement, he and Ida spent several years as volunteers at Mo Ranch. Finally moving to Ida’s hometown of Taylor where Alfred served in several churches as an interim minister. After Ida’s death in 2004, Alfred moved to Houston to live with family.

Alfred is survived by his loving family, sons, Bill and wife Susie of Lucas, David of Houston, Bob and wife Rhonda of Lubbock, James of Pearland. and daughter, Carol of Houston. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Alice, Rachel, Melissa and husband Byron Foote with great-grandchildren Emma and Logan. His brothers, John and wife Joan of Dallas, and Bob of Oak Ridge, Tennessee also survive him. The family invites your words of comfort.
