Marjorie Willene Harris, 86, of Thrall passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013. She was born July 23, 1926, in Altus, Arkansas, to Lawrence and Pearl Baker. She was a loving and compassionate person who thought the world of her family and friends. Her greatest passion was to watch and attend all her family's sporting events. She was everyone's greatest supporter.
Marjorie met her husband, Herman "Rabbit" Harris, in 1944 and was married in 1946 when he returned from the service. From this union, two daughters were born, Suzanne Harris Lenz and Jan Yvonne Harris Grisham. The family moved to Texas in 1954 when Rabbit was employed by IGC in Rockdale.
She was a housewife until she began her career as a beautician and shop owner in 1958. She worked in this profession for 32 years.
Marjorie was a member of the Thrall VFD Auxiliary for 43 years where she held positions of President and Vice President. She was a member of the Thrall United Methodist Church where she spent many days in Bible Study and playing Chicken Foot with her church family.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman Harris, sister Wymath Goodwin and brothers Floyd and Sam Baker.
Survivors include daughters Suzanne Lenz and husband Raymond, Jan Grisham and husband Charlie, grandchildren Kimberly Biar and husband Gavin, Scott Holder and wife Kim, Chad Lenz and wife Mandy and Miles Grisham, great-grandchildren Kamryn, Kyler and Hadley Holder, Braeden and Zackary Lenz and Elise, Samuel and Isaac Biar, sister Dorothy Casey and brother Johnny Baker.
Visitation will be Friday, June 14, at 2:00 p.m. with the service following at 3:00 p.m. Both will be held at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor with burial to follow at Taylor City Cemetery
Memorials may be made to Thrall United Methodist Church in Thrall.
