Charles Vincent Sterle

October 26, 1932 — May 4, 2013

Charles Vincent Sterle was born October 26, 1932 in Memphis, Tennessee to Ignatius & Elizabeth Sterle. He went to be with his heavenly Father on May 4, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Virtus E. Landrey Sterle, infant son Charles V. Sterle, Jr., son Terry Edward Sterle, and daughter Tammie E. Castle. He is survived by his wife Jimmie Bond Sterle, his daughters Deborah Thatcher, Cindy Burton & husband Jim, Gina McLean & husband Mac, Pamela J. Rickel & husband Larry, son Jeffrey Hathorn & wife Sully and 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who called him Grandpa and Pa Chuck.

He joined the United States Air Force and retired a MSgt. in 1971 after serving 20 years including a tour in Vietnam. He then began a career in Computer Science as a computer programmer. He married the love of his life Jimmie in 1974 and they began their adventure of traveling the world together. He taught Computer Science in Japan where they lived for 2 years. He especially loved Germany where he wrote computer programs for the United States Defense Department and they lived for 5 years. Their travels took them to numerous foreign countries including Europe, Korea, Crete, Thailand & Croatia. He wrote programs for numerous banks through out the United States. He & Jimmie began the pursuit of obtaining their pilot license in 1978 & from then on enjoyed flying small aircraft, him in one and her ever beside him in another. They loved golfing and enjoyed playing at golf courses around the world during their travels and at home in Bandera with their priest Father Stan. He loved building things and built their homes in both Red Rock and Bandera. He loved hot dogs and Pepsi and cigars. He loved his God, his family and his country.

He will fondly be remembered for his corny off the cuff jokes and clowning nature.
