Jovita Robles Alderete, 76, lifelong resident of Taylor was peacefully called home to our Heavenly Father on Monday, April 22, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born February 15, 1937 in San Juan, TX to Daniel Robles and Candelaria Leal Robles. She married the love of her life Joe H. Alderete on April 17, 1954 and to this union were 5 children: Ephraim, Esther, Ismael, Olga and Orpha.
Jovita was a devoted homemaker, raising her children as well as raising 8 of her 16 siblings after losing their mother to cancer. Later, she worked at Kerr-Ban for 10 years, then at Texas Instruments for 20 years when she retired in 1999. She was also chosen Mother of the Year by the Taylor Daily Press in 2006.
After retirement, she kept very active attending Curves, traveling to Louisiana, catering with friends, attending family gatherings and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities.
But her most loving passion was gathering with her siblings, nieces, nephews and all of her children. She always looked forward to Wednesdays when she would make dinner for the whole family because it was a time for her to be surrounded by a full house of all her loved ones, to eat, and to catch up on weekly family events. The most memorable family tradition was celebrating her twin daughters’ day-after-Christmas birthdays with a huge pot of menudo and caldo for family and friends that would last well into the late night!
Jovita was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Candelaria Robles, brothers, Joe and Hilo Robles, sister Lydia Gonzales and daughter Esther Garcia.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Joe H. Alderete, son Ephraim and wife Arlene and grandson, Cody; son, Ismael and wife Jeannie and granddaughters, Abigail and Elizabeth; daughter, Olga Jonse and husband Gilbert and grandsons Matthew and Mark; daughter, Orpha Ramirez and husband Ernest and granddaughters Jennifer and Elliana, grandson Albert Garcia, Jr. and granddaughter Lisa Rivera and husband Sal and great grandchildren Madelyn, Kathryn and Isaac; 6 sisters, Aurora Ramirez, Esther Sandoval, Lela Diaz, Gloria Torres, Alice Paredes and Naomi Gonzales, and 6 brothers, Abel Robles, Israel Robles, Salvador Robles, Lionel Robles, Noel Robles and Jessie Robles.
Jovita’s unconditional love for her family will forever be in our hearts.
