Lillie Mae Janak, 81, of Taylor, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013.
Lillie was born July 4, 1931 in Circleville to August and Angeline (Havelka) Kovar.
She grew up in Circleville and graduated Valedictorian of Granger High School in 1948. On October 12, 1950, Lillie married Calvin T. Janak.
Lillie worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Texas A&M University, Thrall-Tex Grain, Wilcox-Elliott Grain, and C&C Construction, Inc.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, SPJST, American Cancer Society, St Anne’s Altar Society and March of Dimes; record keeper for St. Mary’s Church Cemetery and St. Mary’s School Annual Picnic; and Sales Committee bookkeeper for Livestock sale for 25 years. Lillie loved volunteering out of her concern for the betterment of her church and community. In 1997, she was named Taylor Woman of the Year.
Lillie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Calvin; son Calvin T. Janak, Jr. and wife Constance; daughter Peggy Kuhl and husband Doug; brother Donald Kovar and wife Pauline; sister Frances Klepac; grandsons Trey Janak and wife Sarah, Kelly Kuhl and wife Candance, and Kody Kuhl and wife Renee; granddaughters Julie Rohan and husband Rusty, Mallory Stover and husband Luke, and Katelyn Kuhl; great-grandsons Colton Rohan, Kaden Kuhl, and Luke Stover, Jr.; great-granddaughter Madison Rohan and two on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents August and Angeline and brother-in-law Dan Klepac, Frank A.W. Janak, and Clarence Janak
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.
Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial followed at the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary’s School Trust Fund.
