Donald Rieger

Donald Ray Rieger, 74, of Thorndale, TX passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013.

Donald was born April 5, 1939 in Taylor to Fred and Lillie (Poldrack) Rieger and baptized on May 21, 1939 by Pastor P.B. Miertschin. He grew up in Byersville and graduated from Thrall High School. On November 24, 1959, Donald married Annette Strmiska. Donald worked at Superior Daries, then retired from Alcoa after 30 years of service and then took on his passion of ranching as a full time job.

Donald is survived by his wife, Annette, of 54 years, sons Kelly Rieger and wife Suzanne, Kendall Rieger and friend Joy Scruggs, daughter Cheryl Eicher and husband Rick, brother Reginald Rieger and wife Rosella, sisters Odie Belicek and Mae Malm, grandsons Heath and Seth Rieger and Chad Eicher, 3 nieces and 3 nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Latrell Scott and Grace Rieger.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.

Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, April 14, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Burial to follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Heath Rieger, Seth Rieger, Rory Rieger, Jason Rieger, Scott Meinardus and Daryl Meinardus. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Biar, Graham Dickerson, Allen Ray David, Clarence David, Norbert Matula, Edward Betak and Gary Northcott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Paul Lutheran General Fund.
