Carolyn Alice Meiske

September 1, 1936 — January 18, 2013

On Friday, January 18, 2013, the Lord called our dear beloved Mother, Carolyn Alice Meiske, age 76, of Taylor, Texas home.

Carolyn was born in Taylor, Texas on September 1, 1936 to Alvin and Annie Krueger. She proceeded to live her life in Taylor. On April 11, 1959, Carolyn married Roy Meiske and they were married for 29 years.

Carolyn was a kind, loving, and giving person with a heart of gold. She was always there to lend a helping hand when and wherever needed. She not only loved to cook, but she was forever cooking for others. She loved her plants. Her favorites were ivy and hibiscus. She could never walk away from a plant that was dying. Needless to say, she had more plants than she knew what to do with. She enjoyed canning, HEB Bingo, road trips, spending time with family and friends, strawberries, football and baseball. Boy, did she love her Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Back in high school, she was well known for driving her light blue 1957 Chevy convertible up and down the drag in Taylor.

Carolyn volunteered her time at several different food pantries.

Carolyn was a bank teller at First Taylor National Bank for almost 30 years. In December 2012 she celebrated her 5 year anniversary at Walmart as a door greeter where she always had a friendly smile and warm greeting for customers.

Carolyn was a fighter, she was “one touch cookie”.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Fuessel, and her dog CoCo.

Survivors include Ricky Meiske and wife, Kim of The Woodlands, Randy Meiske and wife Melissa of Taylor, and daughter Shelly Salvi and husband Mario of Boca Rotan, Florida. Also surviving are six grandsons whom Carolyn loved dearly; Denton, Dallas, and Dawson Meiske of Taylor, Nicholas, Stephen, and Michael Salvi of Boca Rotan, Florida. Brother-in-law Norman Fuessel, niece Norma Betak, nephew Kelly Fuessel, great nephew Travis Betak and wife Jennifer, and great niece Tracy Betak. Carolyn’s three dogs, Cinnamon, Ginger, and Pepper. Carolyn will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 21, at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Prince of Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
