Lawrence "Lore" Olivarez, Jr.

Lawrence “Lore” Olivarez, Jr., 73, of Taylor passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday,
January 8, 2013 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Efrain Villanueva officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.

Lawrence was born December 4, 1939 in Taylor, Texas to Lorenzo , Sr. and Ninfa (Siller) Olivarez. He married Frances Moreno on December 4, 1965 in Taylor, Texas. Lawrence retired from Alcoa after working for 25 years. He enjoyed boxing and coaching boxing. He had the Taylor Boxing Club back in the 1960’s and 70’s. He also enjoyed his crafting and his woodworking.

Some people might remember Lawrence as the “Snow Cone Man” that rode through the neighborhoods selling snow cones.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Ninfa Olivarez, Sr.; a brother, Santos Olivarez; and 2 grandchildren, Jared Ford and Liliana Olivarez.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Olivarez; children, Arleen Reyes and husband Juan, Lorenzo Olivarez, III and wife Gina, and Matthew Olivarez and wife Nina; grandchildren, Lawrence Olivarez IV, Robyn Reyes, Nolan Olivarez, Lauryn Olivarez, Cruz Olivarez, and Abel Olivarez; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Martinez, Jr., Solomon Olivarez, Jr., Paul Vaughan, Johnny Olivarez, Ernest Olivarez, and Adam Olivarez.
