Selma W Eiben

September 30, 1915 — December 25, 2012

Selma W. Eiben, age 97, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. She was born on September 30, 1915 to Lydia and Charlie Reichel in the Detmold community. On July 5, 1936 she was married to Otto H. Eiben. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and three sisters.

Selma is survived by her three children Peggy Zapalac (Glen), Charles Eiben (Regina) and Donna Hall (Darrell). Her brother Weldon Reichel (Jane) of Mustang, OK also survives her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her spiritual heritage and memory will be cherished by grandsons Russell Zapalac (Kim), Matthew Eiben (Honey), Zachary Hall (Tiffany) and granddaughters Rhonda Vizza, Chantal Dominguez (Jon), Julia Stanford (Jared), Catherine Hall and Olivia Hall. Her great-grandchildren are Carmella Vizza, Giovanni Vizza, Luciano Vizza, Colin Zapalac, Sophia-Rae Eiben, Solomon Eiben, Greyson Hall and Ava Rose Stanford.

Selma was a 1934 graduate of Thorndale High School. She came as a bride to the Coupland community where she was a member of St. Peter”s Church. Selma worked on the farm and in the retail business in the early years of her married life and worked many years as a seamstress for Fashions & Co. in Taylor. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, fishing and playing dominoes. Her favorite job of all was raising her children and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Taylor S.P.J.S.T. Assisted Living, where she enjoyed the last 5 ½ years of her life. A big thank you also to her loving caregivers, Donna Vanecek, Delores Larson and Lisa with Scott & White Hospice.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, December 28, 2012 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Peter”s Church of Coupland. Burial to follow at the Church Cemetery.
