Gilbert Emanuel Wendland

Gilbert Emanuel Wendland, 93, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012.

He was born August 8, 1919 to Carl and Emma Eulenfeld Wendland near Jonah, TX. Gilbert was baptized July 25, 1920 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor by Pastor Arthur Hartman. He was confirmed April 15, 1935 by Pastor A.D. Rhode. He was a lifetime farmer in the Hutto/Jonah area.

Gilbert married Lucille Seidl on November 23, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor by Pastor H.C. Ziehe. Together they enjoyed their family, living in the country, and going dancing together every weekend.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Emma Wendland; brothers, Albert, Alfred, Charlie, and Arthur; sisters, Clara Wendland, Dora Yancey, Lena Schramm, and Edna Lefler; and wife, Lucille Seidl Wendland. He is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and brother-in-law, Louis Seidl and wife, June; special friend, Mary Kirchenwitz.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 17, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. Pastor Gary Veit and Pastor Walter J. Miller will officiate. Burial to follow at Taylor City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Randig, Robert Randig, Morgan Wendland, Al Wendland, Marvin Wendland, and Eugene Wendland.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Cecil Remmert and George Cmerek.
