James Allen “Cris” Crislip, 66 passed away at his home on December 2, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on May 2, 1946 to Rockford and Mabel Rogers Crislip. He grew up and went to school in Spencer, WV where he excelled in sports and academics. He joined the Army at age 17 and served in both Korea and Viet Nam. In 2001, he retired from Alcoa in Rockdale after 32 years of service as a steelworker.
James was an avid boxing fan and loved fast cars, motorcycles, political science, and animals, going so far as to “capture” and tame two dogs that were wild. Mitzi, Lucy, Randy and Cha-Cha were especially close to him and gave him many hours of joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Doris Crislip. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Linda Krieg Crislip; brother Roger Crislip; sister Marcella Crislip; sister-in-law Barbara and J.R. Little; brother-in-law David and Diann Krieg; children Brad and Dana Crislip, Rhonda and Dale Motschke, Kathy Crislip, Travis Murray and Lee Murray; grandchildren Brandon Crislip, Ashleigh, Amanda and A.J. Quinney, Jacob Murray, Emilee Motschke, and one great-grandson. “Papaw” greatly loved them all. Also surviving are Cheryl Murray Wenzel, exceptional friends Eulaine Stone and Keith Peacock, and many nieces and nephews.
James lived by his golden rule of doing one good deed every day. He would have given his last dollar to a stranger on the street. He believed whole-heartedly in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, had been recently baptized, and happily anticipated going to his final reward. He will be sorely missed.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 7, 2012 at Providence Funeral Home.
