John Valla

June 6, 1915 — November 15, 2012

John E. Valla, a lifelong resident of Taylor, TX, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Avalon Alzheimer's Care Home in Irving where he had been a resident for the past 2 1/2 years.

He was born June 6, 1915 in Harmony, TX to Joseph and Vera (Martinets) Valla. John married Eleanora Drozda on May 11, 1946.

He owned Valla Grocery and Service Station in Slaton, TX for 2 years. He was a master carpenter and worked for Quebe Construction Co. for many years and was a retired farmer. He loved sports, hunting, fishing, gardening, but most of all he loved dancing. He also was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #29 and the Taylor Brethren Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Vera Valla, son John Edward Valla Jr., wife Eleanora Valla, and granddaughter Shawna Graham Herring.

He is survived by his daughter Johna and son in-law Mike Graham, 2 grandchildren Michael and Rachel Graham, 4 great grandchildren, Ryen Sanchez, Jude Michael Herring, Caitlyn Gaston and Dylan Michael Graham.

Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Providence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Taylor Brethren Church with burial to follow at Taylor City Cemetery.

In lieu of the flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Taylor Brethren Church, P. O. Box 351, Taylor, TX 76574.
