Mildred Bertha Riethmayer

Mildred was born in Taylor, Texas, on May 29, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Annie Hurta. On May 8, 1939, she married Herbert Riethmayer, and they were unwavering companions throughout both their joys and sorrows for over 60 years.
Mildred will always be remembered for her gentle nature, her caring heart, and her warm embrace of everyone she met. Most of all, she will be remembered for her steadfast Christian faith through the deepest challenges and struggles in her life. By her example, she shared her faith with countless others. As a life-long active member of the Taylor Brethren Church, she served in numerous capacities of her beloved church, which included serving on the Board of Elders, sponsor of the Taylor BYF, officer and member of the Christian Sisters, and delegate to the State Church Conventions. However, she is most remembered for her many years of service as a treasured Sunday School teacher, especially the many years in which she served as a teacher of her church's Confirmation Class.
Everyone commented on Mildred's keen mind throughout her 92 years of life. She was an avid reader, and read almost everything put in front of her, including the advertising on cereal boxes. She loved to work crossword puzzles, including some of the most difficult, and she loved to play all kinds of games. She was very artistic and was often called upon to provide posters, murals, and decorations for various church activities. Mildred loved to meet people from every background, and was always willing to listen and share both laughter and tears with them. Her family was the highlight of her life, and she was soundly insistent that there be a strong bond within her family members. Because she shared her life with us, our joys will be greater; our love will be deeper; and our lives will be fuller.
Mildred left this earthly life on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Among all who mourn her passing are her son, Herbert Riethmayer, Jr. and his wife Betty; her son-in-law, Leroy Reichenbach; her two adopted daughters, Anna Kovar and husband Donald and Pat Zrubek and her husband Gene; her grandchildren, Monee Michna and husband Buddy; Tammie Riethmayer; Aaron Riethmayer and wife Valori; Terry Zrubek and wife Amanda; Marianne Host and husband Tony. She found great pride and joy in her nine beautiful great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Riethmayer Sr.; a son, Cliffie Riethmayer; a daughter, Anita Reichenbach; two granddaughters, Regina Reichenbach and Renita Reichenbach; her parents, Frank and Annie Hurta, and a sister, Vlasta Chalupa.
A prayer service and visitation will be held at the Providence Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Taylor Brethren Church. Pallbearers will be Buddy Michna, Aaron Riethmayer, Terry Zrubek, Tony Host, David Naivar, and Stanley Zamorsky.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor Brethren Church, P. O. Box 351, Taylor, Texas 76574 or to the Regina Reichenbach Scholarship Fund, 602 W. 12th Street, Taylor, Texas 76574.
Special appreciation is extended to Rev. Hejl for his visits and spiritual comfort; to Dr. Nathan Cohen and the staff of the Taylor Scott and White Hospital for their compassionate love and care of our beloved “Nanny;” and to the many family and friends for their support and prayers.
