Longtime resident of Thorndale, Elyne Selma Bieberstein Niemtschk, went to be with the Lord May 20, 2012. She was born October 23, 1922 to Herman and Selma (Felfe) Bieberstein in Lincoln, Texas and was baptized as a child of God November 5, 1922 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Manheim. Elyne was confirmed April 5, 1936 at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln and married Leroy Gilbert Niemtschk March 28, 1948 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Manheim.
Elyne was preceded in death by her parents and husband, grandson Kelly Niemtschk, sisters Lucille Walther and Viola Church, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, two nephews and niece.
Elyne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale where she was an active member of the LWML and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. One thing Elyne never accomplished in her lifetime was to drive and get her driver’s license. Angie Becker was always so kind to pick up Elyne and take her to both LWML and choir practice.
Elyne was a tireless worker, working each day from before sunrise, to late in the evening, caring for her family, cooking meals, tending the garden, canning, baking, doing yard work, etc. She worked alongside her husband, Leroy for many years running their business, Leroy’s Ice House where she managed the finances among other things. Since she didn’t drive, she walked back and forth from home to work and back again.
Elyne is survived by: SONS: Gerald (Pat) Niemtschk, Larry (Charlotte) Niemtschk both of Thorndale and Michael (Jane) Niemtschk of Lewisville; DAUGHTER: Debbie (Donny) Dunn of Choate; GRANDCHILDREN: Doug (Jennifer) Niemtschk of Andover, KS, Vicky (Terry) Laurence of Thorndale, Bobby (Lori) Niemtschk of Taylor, Wade (Rhesa) Dunn of Midland, Clint Dunn of Choate, Andrew and Austin Niemtschk of Lewisville; GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kelsey (John) Niemtschk Ford of Corbin, Cameron and Caden Niemtschk of Andover, KS, Dylan and Paige Laurence of Thorndale, Simon and Anna Niemtschk of Taylor, Colton and Caitlynn Dunn of Midland; SISTERS: Vernelle Zoch of Giddings, Glory Mae Bieberstein of Houston; SISTER-IN-LAWS: Ruby Schroeder of Thorndale, Helen Scheer of Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
