Shirley Manning passed away peacefully on Apr. 21, 2012, at the age of 70 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Shirley was born on Apr. 12, 1942, in Elgin, Texas, to her parents, Earl and Sophie (Heine) Dollar. She shared a loving marriage with her husband Norman Manning for over 43 years. She proudly served as a teacher in Taylor ISD for 36 years, and for 39 years total in the state of Texas.
Family was always most important to this generous, loving lady. Her family understood that she was always there to help with anything they needed while never expecting anything in return other than their love. Her children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends were always in her heart and on her mind and she showered them all with her caring love.
She leaves behind her loving family: husband Norman Manning of Taylor; sons, Jon Manning and wife Lisa of Taylor, and Will Manning and wife Kristina of Salado; grandchildren, Amy and Kayla Manning of Salado; and brothers, Bobby Dollar of Austin, and Walter Dollar of Edna. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Rosary will be held 7-8 p.m., Monday, Apr. 23, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. A Funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m., Tuesday, Apr. 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor with burial to follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Dollar, Michael Hlavaty, James Manning, Ernest Trigo, Darren Wells, Mike Stephenson, and Brian Winkler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School, 520 Washburn St., Taylor, TX 76574.
