Tom E. Payne

Tom Ellis Payne, age 85 of Pflugerville, passed away at home on Sunday, March 04, 2012 surrounded by a loving family after a recent illness.

Tom was born on May 11, 1926 in San Angelo, Texas to Lorena and Jake C. Payne. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific on the transport ship “Oneida.” He retired from the Texas Department of Health in 1990 after 25 years as the State Radiological Officer.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Geneva; brothers James and Ira Lee; and son Gary A. Payne.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Audell Jaecks Payne; sons, Robert E. Payne, Jackie L. Payne (Penny), Thomas L. Payne (Barbara), Billy R. Payne (Lynn Miller), James T. Payne (Nickie); nine grandchildren; and, nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at The Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd., Taylor, TX from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, March 5, 2012. Services will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2012, 2:00pm at The Providence Funeral Home in Taylor with his nephew Herman Russell Payne officating. Burial will follow at Hutto Cemetery, Hutto TX.
