Jerry Dean Ash, devoted husband, loving father, and committed friend to all, passed from this life on January 8, 2012.
Jerry was born January 2, 1939 in Desdemona, TX to D. W. and Frances Ash. He graduated from Crane High School in 1958 and attended the University of Texas. Jerry played on the Shorthorns football team during the 1958-1959 season. It was at UT that he met and married his wife, Joy. Jerry owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Taylor for 16 years, was a car salesman, and then obtained his real estate license.
While living in Taylor, he was President of the Little League Association for several years, was a life-time member of the Taylor Lions Club, serving twice as President, helped with the MAPS program, and served Meals on Wheels. He is a founder, member, and elder of the TownWest Church, where he also taught adult Bible classes.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; sister Jan Batson of Nashville, TN; and brother Joe Dan Ash of Washington State.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joy Wolff Ash of Taylor, TX; his children Dean Ash and wife Dina, of Flower Mound, TX; David Ash and wife Teri’ of Taylor, TX; and Carl Ash and wife Paige of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by six grandchildren Brandon Ash and wife Connie, Preston Ash, Evan Ash, Brinley Ash, Cami Ash and Calee Ash. Jerry is also survived by his loving sister-in-law Sue McGinnis of Fort Worth, TX, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
We will miss his huge bear hugs, big smile, friendly disposition, unconditional love, encouraging words, and “can do” optimism. Jerry will be forever missed and always loved.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at TownWest Church, 1616 Granger Road, Taylor, TX.
Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at TownWest Church. Burial to follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
